Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger

Description:

Once a ranger always a ranger. Cruel fate turns the orginal ten rangers towards their old foot steps. Zordon regretally gives them back their powers. Knowning they will need them one day. After being reunited due to a threatening attack from mysterious attackers. Together again they get reaqauinted in Tommy's dino command center in Reefside they hide. After briefly activating enough power they save themselves, and the world.

Prologue

Zordon watched viewing globe as his newest formed team the Turbo Power Rangers went into battle. He knew they would be no match for Divatox if they went into battle with their Zeo morphers, and they wouldn’t have been able to cross into Maligore’s dimension either. He knew all of them weren’t too excited about taking up new ranger powers again. They had finally defeated the defeated the Machine Empire after all. But it seemed that always would be rangers. The duty was not a once in a lifetime thing. Danger would always come no matter how much they defeated it, and power rangers would always be needed. Something was still worrying him about them. Not all of the teams he had trained but the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. Something deeply worried him about those teenagers. He had a strong feeling their problems were far from over.

He started to gain these suspicions when Jason took on the gold powers. He was never meant to come back to duty of course but he was the best candidate to receive them. It seemed the first red ranger would never escape ranger duty, no matter how hard he tried. But Zordon also knew that Jason would not back down, he would take up the duty no matter how long it would take. His life as the Gold Ranger was short-lived. For after so many battles he started to become weak. They learned he couldn’t take the foreign power anymore. Thus the legacy of the Gold Power Ranger was over Jason returned to normal but something happened. Zordon felt a strange spark of power blink in the first red ranger. He still didn’t know for sure but his fears became realized that the first team of rangers. The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers hadn’t lost all of their powers.

Research began to find out why. Though, Zordon was wise, and knew much he never imagined this would happen to his rangers. But it had. Zordon turned to Alpha 5 who was monitoring the ranger’s lifelines during the battle, while at the same time researching this very suspicion. The Robot turned to Zordon, and seemed to be shaking his cylinder head sadly. “You’re suspicions were right Zordon. The mighty Morphin Power Rangers still have their powers.”

“BUT THEY CAN NOT MORPH WITH THEM?” Zordon stated.

Alpha nodded sadly. “For some reason even though the morphing grid, and their power coins were destroyed, their powers are still in them. At least some.”

“DOES IT TELL ANY WAY FOR THE RANGERS TO MORPH OR DISPOSE OF THEIR POWERS?” Zordon asked the robot.

Alpha typed away at his keyboard looking over the information that was wrote in an unknown language. “No it does not.”

Zordon showed much concern in his eyes. He knew the teenagers had been taking a big risk taking the powers in the first place but he never dreamed it would go to this much trouble. Calming himself he looked to his ally. “ALPHA AFTER THE TURBO RANGERS COME BACK I DO NOT WANT THEM TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. IT WOULD BE TOO MUCH OF A DISTRACTION WITH THIS BATTLE ALREADY AT HAND.”

“Can we do anything to help the rangers, Zordon?” Alpha asked hoping there might be some way to keep them safe.

Zordon nodded. “TELEPORT IN THE TRYRANNOSAURAS, MASTODON, AND THE SABERTOOTH TIGER POWER COINS.”

Alpha nodded, then homed in on the coins powers. Slowly all three coins appeared. Though Rito Revolto did make the power coins useless they still were them. All of them had been sitting inside a small box, which the rangers had buried not far from the old command center. With the morphin grid gone they needed a new power source, and new zords. So they traveled to Ninjor’s planet to gain new coins, and zords. But the old power coins could be recharged though the power source would have to be different.

Zordon spoke after his assistant set the power coins in their original box. “NOW RETRIEVE THE ZEONIZERS: 1, 3, 4, AND 5.”

The little robot went over to a small compartment some ways away where the old Zeo morphers were kept. Carefully Alpha retrieved the pink, green, blue, and red morphers from the drawer laying them in the small box with the power coins. The Zeonizers still worked they just weren’t powerful enough to use against Divatox so they had been put away, and their powers were transferred to the turbo morphers. Zordon was planning to give them to their respective owners when the rangers finally left duty. So the rangers would have them to remember what they did.

Once that was done Zordon said. “THOUGH THE RANGERS NINJA POWER COINS ARE DESTROYED I CAN SENSE THE POWER IS STILL INSIDE THE RANGERS. WE WILL CREATE NEW COINS THAT ACCESS THE SAME RANGER ABLITIES.”

Alpha found a flaw in this. “But Zordon, which coins? There are many, and I can tell not all of them will be getting the same powers back.”

“INDEED ALPHA FIVE, THEY WON’T. I HAVE CHOOSEN TO USE THE LAST RANGER MORPHERS FROM WHEN EACH OF THEM LEFT. SO THAT THEY CAN ACCESS THE SAME POWER THEY KNOW. THE COINS WE SHALL RECREATE SHALL BE THE YELLOW BEAR, AND PINK CRANE.”

Alpha began to fix up the white room, which was identical to the one where the White Tiger Coin was created. But then comes to a halt when the little robots memory banks began remember this won’t work. “What is the power source, though? The morphing grid is gone, Ninjor has left so there is no way to gain new ones, the Zeonizers won’t work because the turbo morphers are already hooked up to the Zeo crystals.”

Zordon answers. “LATER ON THE TURBO MORPHERS WILL BE DONE. BUT I DO SENSE A NEED IN THE FUTURE FOR THE RED TURBO MORPHER. WE’LL HAVE TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR BOTH TO WORK AT ONCE FOR A SHORT TIME BUT THE RED ZEONIZER MUST STAY ONLINE. WE WILL HOOK ALL OF THE MORPHERS, AND COINS UP TO THE ZEO CRYSTAL. THOUGH I FEAR THAT THEY MAY NOT HAVE FULL POWER FOR SOME OF THEM SHALL HAVE TO SHARE WITH THEIR RESPECTIVE COLOR.”

The robot begins the work on the power coins while Zordon returns to his main tube to watch the ranger’s lifelines. In shock he sees on the viewing globe, two of his first rangers Jason, and Kimberly fighting against the Turbo Rangers. He senses pure evil is brainwashing them. Maligore. He thought. The only way for there two to be affected was if they still had the power in them. Though Divatox may have thought it only was the purity the demon wanted it wasn’t just that is was the power that was still in them. If it had been a normal human in this situation they would have just died. But these two were protected by the power. Making them resist being destroyed, but that didn’t mean their purity wasn’t taken. Finally after sometime the alien wizard named Lerigot who the rangers rescued earlier on turned the two back to normal. Then they helped the rangers escape Divatox. He could see a lot of pain in Kimberly seeing Tommy again, and Jason decided to comfort the girl he knew as a sister.

Finally Zordon turned his attention away from the viewing globe to see Alpha waddling over. “ARE THEY FINISHED?”

“All most Zordon. I thought it would be best if I came back in here though, so the rangers don’t get suspicious.” Alpha replied.

Zordon smiled at Apha glad to see the robot knew how important it was to keep this knowledge from the rangers. At that instant the rangers teleported in looking battered, and bruised but other than that alright. Slowly all of them lifted their helmets off their heads holding them in their arms by their sides. Zordon watched his newest team with pride welling up inside him they were truly as a ranger should be. He then spoke. “RANGERS WELL DONE YOU STOPPED DIVATOX’S WEDDING THOUGH I FEAR YOUR BATTLE IS FAR FROM OVER. YOU FOUGHT BRAVELY TODAY, AND I COULDN’T ASK FOR A BETTER TEAM.”

The new Blue Ranger, Justin seemed to puff up his chest in pride. Adam grinned at the praise, and Tanya smiled happily. Kat showed off her trademark smile. While Tommy just nodded, Zordon could tell he was still getting over seeing Kimberly. But he would be all right. “YOU MAY GO AND REST RANGER, BUT I NEED TOMMY, ADAM, AND KATTHERINE TO STAY. MAY THE POWER PROTECT THE REST OF YOU.”

The others seemed to nod understanding it was probably none of their business. They powered down then Alpha sent them to Ernie’s Juice Bar. Tommy, Kat, and Adam remaining morphed waiting to hear what their mentor had to say. They all wore confused expressions wondering why he had sent away the others but they had to stay.

Kat was the first to speak. “Zordon, what is the matter?”

Zordon wore a serious but gentle expression as he turned his eyes to the pink ranger. “YOU WILL FIND OUT SOON KATHERINE.” Then their mentor turned his attention to Alpha. “ALPHA PLEASE TELEPORT ROCKY HERE THEN GO RETRIEVE THEIR ITEMS.”

Alpha nodded. “Right away Zordon.” Then he typed in the coordinates for where Rocky was. Unknown to them the robot had used the faint red power that was still inside him to find the former ranger.

The rangers were in a bit of shock to hear that Rocky was coming here. Did their mentor have a new power for him? No that couldn’t be it Rocky was injured he transferred his powers to Justin that couldn’t be it. Then what was it? And why did Zordon ask Alpha to retrieve their items. What items? As they were thinking a white light flashed into the room, and there was Rocky. He had crutches to keep him upright because of the accident. And, he seemed to be in just as much of shock as the others to be there.

Rocky turned to Zordon the best he could. “What is it Zordon? Why did you bring me here? I am not a power ranger anymore.” His voice seemed to be full of dismay he wanted to be with the others fighting, but since his accident he new he couldn’t. It almost seemed to him, he was taken out of their inner circle of friends, and with a secret only they knew. Even though Justin was doing just fine he still wished he could be the one out there fighting evil.

“I SHALL TELL YOU IN A MOMENT ROCKY, BE PATIENT.” Zordon replied.

Rocky nodded using his crutches for support he made his way back to the others. “Do you guys have any idea why I’m supposed to be here?”

“No.” Tommy replied in a melancholy voice. “All we know is Zordon made the three of us stay behind while he sent Justin, and Tanya, away.”

Rocky blinked. “He, sent them away?” What was so big that it needed to be kept secret from the other rangers? After all as long as Rocky had remembered they hardly had secrets they didn’t share with the whole team. “Are you sure?”

Tommy just nodded not wishing to talk anymore.

Before Rocky could ask another question Alpha came into the room with a small wooden box. He set it down on the table in front of them. The rangers looked at the box curiously wondering what was in it, and why the others weren’t going to be able to see it. Whatever it was it had to be something pretty important not to let the others know. Zordon seemed to nod to Alpha then the robot opened the box.

The four gasped in amazement, what they saw was four zeonizers all sitting on a pillow that was inside the box. They walked over to them, well the three of them did, Rocky had to limp. They looked them over studying them, checking them over to see if these were the same morphers they used when they lost their Ninja Powers, and the pieces of the Zeo Crystal were retrieved to create a new power source. Thus them taking up the legacy of the Zeo Rangers. They were the same morphers down to the last detail. During all this time memories that were both good, and bad sped through their minds.

Kat stared at her pink zeonizer, remembering it represented her first time not living in Kimberly’s shadow. She had been chosen to wear the morpher, and she couldn’t have been happier at her time being a Zeo Ranger. She looked up to their mentor. “But Zordon?” She asked. “Why are you giving them back to us?”

Adam nodded in agreement as he was fiddling with his green zeonizer. “She’s right we lost those powers.”

Zordon spoke with much wisdom in his voice. “THEY WILL WORK ONCE THE TURBO MORPHERS ARE RETIRED. I HOPE YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO USE THEM RANGERS, BUT IF YOU EVER DO THEY WILL WORK FOR YOU. THEY ARE SO YOU CAN REMEMBER YOUR TIME AS ZEO RANGERS.”

Rocky seemed teary eyed which was rare for him. But he was looking down at his blue zeonizer remembering how much he missed being a ranger. He would keep it to remember his friends, and the best past he could ever hope for. “Thanks for the memento Zordon. I’ll keep it always.”

The others nodded in agreement but they noticed their fearless leader eyes were trying to fight back tears as he held the red zeonizer in his grasp. Tommy was remembering when Kim sent him that breakup letter. It stirred up his emotions he had felt from so long ago. He felt a hand on his shoulder turning around he saw Kat looking at him with concerned eyes. He nodded to her trying to bring out a grin though seeing that morpher, and Kim all in one day, devastated him. “I’m okay, Kat.” He said to her in the best non-trembling voice he could, but Kat could tell he wasn’t alright. She still nodded though knowning it was best to leave him alone with this problem.
Zordon looked to his rangers. Knowning that they would be facing more trouble than they ever had. He knew they would probably not be ready for it, but would fight their hardest. I only hope this will give them a better chance. “FAREWELL RANGERS, AND MAY THE POWER PROTECT YOU.”

The rangers powered down while Rocky waited. Then the four of them were transported in beams of color to the tournament.

After the tournament Jason, and Kimberly had exited not taking anytime to go see the others. Kim seemed to be trembling with sadness, her head cast downwards. Jason walked besides her to comfort his little sis. Though they weren’t really brother, and sister it always seemed that way. They stood up for each other, and Jason wouldn’t let any one harm his sister. They walked slowly towards the car parked not far away Kim was planning to return to Florida, to complete her gymnastics career. After Jason was done visiting her new home, he planned to return without letting the rangers know, and enroll in the police academy of Angel Grove. He felt like he had a duty to this place even though he wasn’t a ranger. All the time they walked Jason could tell Kim was troubled about something.

“Kim, what’s wrong?” He asked her gently even though he had a pretty idea what was bugging her. The fight with Maligore probably, that ancient evil which Divatox had been planning to marry had chosen them to be her sacrifice. Or as she called it wedding present for him, so that she could gain his alliance. Jason knew all to well that Kim was a tough girl, no there was something else bothering her.

Kim looked up into Jason’s symphatic face, with her eyes still watery. “I couldn’t do it, Jason.” She said casting her eyes downward. “I couldn’t ask him to forgive me about that stupid letter.” Of course she was talking about Tommy, who else had Kim felt really seriously in love about? She had hoped when they were in Angel Grove, that she could visit him Finding he wasn’t home they went scuba diving knowing he was probably on ranger business. She had thought this would just be a quiet time where they could catch up on things. But the two of them had been captured surprisingly by Divatox the zeo rangers current foe.

Kim had managed to escape with Bulk, and Skull. The two had been captured but weren’t a success so they had been left to rot in the cell next to them. Jason wasn’t so lucky though before he could get out the ceil shut up again. Kimberly felt she was home free and went to find help. But she ran into some island natives. Once again getting captured. Then after being turned evil in flames of Maligore, Jason, and she had battled the rangers.

When Kim saw what she was doing she tried to stop. But evil, and hatred was in control of her mind. Not even when Tommy took of his helmet showing her his tear stained face, did she back down. No they were giving the rangers quite a fight. Not until Lerigot saved them did her did she return to her normal self. To help Tommy pull Jason out of the pit. After wards Kim deeply did want to tell him the truth but she decided now wasn’t the time. When they were back on dry land at the fight she knew it was the best time. But just as she was about to do this she saw her successor Kat hug him, he returned the hug warmly. She saw them looking so happy together it broke her heart but she probably deserved this. She couldn’t blame him after what happened. Then Kat kissed him on the cheek that was the last straw she left exited the tournament doors, and went off in tears.

Soon Jason caught up with her. Then they didn’t speak till now. “He has Kat anyways, Jason.” She said as she finished draining out her emotions. “He doesn’t need me.” She sobbed onto his shoulder.

Jason stroked her light brown hair out of her face as he tried to settle her down. “It’s okay Kim. He does love you; you should have seen his face when he saw the letter. Rocky told me how he looked later on. He didn’t want to believe it, Kim.”

Kim sniffled. “I know Jason. But I put him through so much pain already…” She looked down away from him. “I don’t deserve him. He needs a girl who wouldn’t send him such a horrible letter. Appearing that she just threw him away like he was yesterdays news.”

“It’s okay sis, I’m sure things will work out sooner or later.” Jason said hugging her gently. “Besides if he knew the truth, I’m sure he’d have forgiven you.”

She knew all to well. He was talking about what happened to her. She had been through a lot of hurt. But she pushed the thoughts aside. She needed to focus on the present not the past. “I hope your right Jason.” Kimberly said displaying a weak smile.

Jason grinned and winked. “Hey, when has the Red Ranger ever been wrong?”

“Well there was that time…” Kimberly began.

“Don’t answer that.” Jason cut in quickly.

She giggled a little. It seemed that this was an icebreaker. Kim’s trademark smile seemed to be showing clearly. She felt less saddened. Hope still remained that some day Tommy might forgive her. And more importantly she’d have the courage to ask him.

“What do you say we grab a bite to eat then hit the road?” Jason asked her.

Kimberly managed to force a smile. “Sounds like a plan.” But her thoughts still turned to what she did to Tommy. It was wrong, and she knew it.

As they started towards the car once more a pillar white light engulfed each of them. Kim let out a shriek of surprise while Jason remained silent. It hadn’t been to long ago since he was a ranger he knew what was going on. They were being teleported to the command center.

Two bright white pillars of light materialized in the command center. Alpha Five watched as two of his first rangers the Red, and Pink rangers appeared. Alpha quickly set the teleportation so that it was useless to the Turbo rangers for a little while. The rangers did not need to know that the two had been there.

Kimberly was looking around the room amazed she had never seen the command center looking like this. ‘It’s changed so much.’ She thought. The first Pink Ranger looked about the Command Center as she tried to find the tube where Zordon their old mentor resided in. While looking behind she gasped seeing her old suit, and the others. Plus the last team of Rangers the Zeo ones there too.

The first Red Ranger, Jason on the other hand didn’t look around much. Not much had changed except for a few updates on the equipment so it worked better for the Turbo Rangers. He felt concerned as he looked around. ‘Why were we brought here?’ He thought. It couldn’t be new powers since the Turbo rangers had them. Maybe they were in danger again but it hardly seemed likely since Divatox’s groom was dead. She wouldn’t be interested in them unless her hubby was still alive. So why were they here?

His question was soon answered, as he watched in amazement as three pillars of light materialized in the room not far from them. Kimberly gasped as she saw Trini, Zack, and Aisha appear in front of them. Jason also felt in shock by this. They both noticed the three were looking at them with the same surprised look. How much their three friends had changed.

Trini was wearing a yellow lab coat, and goggles; she carefully removed the goggles away from her jet-black hair, and placed them inside her side pocket. Aisha was wearing a white doctors coat with a yellow blouse that seemed to have little animal prints on it. Zack on the other hand was dressed in blue jeans, a black tee shirt, and a black cowboy hat was on his head. All the sudden the girls formed a huge hug with each other then Jason patted Zack on the back. Then they group hugged. Feeling happiness at seeing their old friends. They still couldn’t believe that they were here together.

Commotion began to ensnare. “Trini is that you?” Kimberly asked her best friend in amazement.

Trini grinned. “Yes it’s me. After the Peace Conference, I went to Turtle Cove to study in the field of medicine.” She noticed the shock on her friend’s faces, and went on. “I feel it’s the best way I can give to the world. By becoming some one who can help cure illnesses.”

Kimberly still looked amazed. “I never would have expected that.” Turning to Aisha she was surprised also but could already tell what her friend profession was. “And Aisha are you supposed to be a vet?”

“Actually assistant vet.” Aisha said with a wink. “I’ve been working part time as I’ve been taking college classes in Cairo, Egypt. I plan to get my degree in Veterinary technician as soon as I’m done with college, hopefully.”

Kimberly smiled at both of her best friends. “Well I bet you’re going to do great.” Then turned to Trini. “Both of you.”

On the other side of the room Jason was talking to Zack.

“So you’re a real cowboy now, Zack.” Jason asked his old friend.

“Yep,” Zack said in the best country tone he could muster. “I inherited a ranch in Texas from my late Uncle.” He nodded tipping his hat a bit. “He had no kids so he sent it to his favorite nephew.”

The conversations kept going as Zordon watched his rangers getting to know how each other’s lives were going. He felt sorry to break up their conversation but he knew it had to be done. The reason they didn’t see him was because he was in the other room checking on the Ninja coins process, they were ready now. He noticed that they began asking each other why each was here, so he decided to answer this. “I HAVE BROUGHT YOU ALL HERE FOR A REASON.” Everyone turned startled to see their old mentor, but at the same time curious to know what he had to say. “I HAVE SOMETHING FOR ALL OF YOU SO YOU CAN REMEMBER WHAT IT FELT LIKE TO BE RANGERS, AND TO NOT FORGET YOUR LEGACY.”

As if on cue Alpha five entered the room with a small brown box. He set it on the table. The former rangers looked curiously as their old ally, and friend opened the box. Silence ensnared the room when they saw what it had held. There inside the box five coins laid on a small pillow. Each of them without understanding why picked up their respective coins. Kimberly, and Aisha at the same time were amazed to see their two Ninja Coins sitting there. They both thought that Rito destroyed the coins when Tommy, Adam, Rocky, Aisha, and Kat had become children thanks to Master Vile spell. Kimberly had learned this later on of course from Kat. It was amazing to hold their old coins feeling their powers, and their animals spirits residing in them once more to guide them. After this was done.

Kimberly touched her Pink Crane Ninja Coin carefully as she grasped it in her hand. Feeling the surge of pink energy that she almost lost when Zedd used her to get to the rangers, well up inside her. She felt her animal spirit the crane once again becoming her animal guide, and protection. She then looked to her old mentor. “But why Zordon?”

“YOU FIVE DESERVE TO HAVE WHAT WAS ONCE YOURS BEFORE YOU LEFT. ALL OF THEM WILL WORK BEST AFTER THE TURBO RANGERS HAVE FINISHED THEIR JOBS, THOUGH YOU CAN ACCESS THEM WHILE THEY ARE STILL IN DUTY. BUT DO NOT USE THEM UNLESS NECCASSARY.” Zordon explained to them in the same booming voice they once used to know as their mentor.
Trini fingered her Yellow Sabertooth Tiger Power Coin, knowing that is was the same one she left when she handed down her power to Aisha. It was amazing to see it again. She thought she never would. She felt the power inside her once more making her feel stronger, and more agile than she had been. Once she heard Zordon’s speech she knew without a doubt that there had to be an important reason that they had to have them. She replied once he was done speaking with a look of determination on her face. “We won’t Zordon.”

Aisha nodded as she held the Yellow Bear Ninja Coin in her palm. She felt instantly a wash of comfort, and strength as her animal spirit the bear once again came to be her guide. This was her coin no one else had ever used it. It was made for her alone. She was chosen to receive it, it wasn’t a hand me down of Trini it was her own. As well as the zord that she had with it. She smiled up at Zordon, and nodded as she gripped the coin firmly.

Zack was still in awe as he held the Black Mastadon Power Coin. The thing that changed his life forever. Giving him both a new destiny, and a change of how he was inside, and out. He had been chosen so long ago to hold this power it seemed and now he could feel his strength, and agility in full speed as he held the coin. “You can count on us.”

Jason held onto his own coin the Tyrannosaurus Power Coin, looking at it in shock. This was the thing that taught him honor, leadership, and responsibility. He had not only learned much but he gained a closer friendship than ever before with the others. Holding the coin brought out sad, and happy memories. Jason looked up at Zordon, and spoke with much determination in his voice. “We won’t let you down.”

Zordon looked to them proudly. “I KNOW YOU WON’T.” He nodded then added. “DO NOT LET THE OTHERS KNOW ABOUT THIS. FOR IT IS BEST FOR THE TURBO RANGERS TO KEEP THEIR MINDS ON THE PROBLEMS AT HAND. UNDERSTAND.”

They all nodded.

Then Kim spoke up. “Zordon would it be okay if instead of sending us all back to our old locations, you could have us teleported to the Juice Bar instead, so we can have some time to catch up on things?”

Zordon nodded in understanding. “YES, I CAN.” Then he turned to the former red ranger. “JASON REMEMBER TO COMMUNICATE WITH US WHEN THE OTHERS ARE READY TO RETURN TO THEIR HOMES.”

Jason nodded. Showing that he still had his communicator from when he was the Gold Ranger on his wrist.

“GOOD. THEN FAREWELL RANGERS, AND MAY THE POWER PROTECT ALL OF YOU.”
They all smiled at their mentor. Then waited for Alpha to key in their coordinates. Unknown to them they disappeared in a pillar of their old colors pink, two yellow, a black, and a red one.

After they were gone Alpha turned to Zordon who seemed to be deep in thought. “Do you think they have a chance Zordon?”

“I DON’T KNOW ALPHA ALL WE CAN HOPE IS THAT THEY WILL ALL KEEP THEIR MORPHERS A SECRET UNTIL THE DANGER HAS PASSED. ONCE THAT HAPPENS I WILL TELL THEM WHAT I FEAR WILL HAPPEN.”
